Lucy Ward, whom we welcome to the Winchester Folk Club on 6th December, has been nominated in two categories: the Horizon Award for new artists, and also in Best Traditional Track, where she is up against folk royalty including Martin Simpson and June Tabor with her interpretation of Maids When You’re Young (Never Wed an Old Man).
Other nominated artists who we’ve seen in the club include Bella Hardy, Jackie Oates and Andy Cutting. Lucy Farrell, who played and sang so beautifully as a member of the Emily Portman Trio this week, is nominated with Jonny Kearney for Best Duo.
Also nominated for the Horizon Award are Pilgrims’ Way, whom we hope to bring you in the spring season.
