Coming up at Winchester Folk Club Kris Drever and Eamonn Coyne and our first Singaround!

The Club’s new concert series kicks off on Tuesday 21st February with Kris Drever and Eamonn Coyne. Kris is the guitarist and singer with innovative trio Lau who sold out the Club last year. This time Kris is joined by Irish tenor banjo maestro Eamonn Coyne.

And for the Spring season, a new venture has been added to the Folk Club programme. On the first Tuesday of the month, in the intimate upstairs room “The Attic” at the Railway Inn, the Winchester Folk Club will be hosting a Singaround. This is an informal and completely free event, open to members and non-members of the club. Anyone who wants to sing or play will get at least one chance to perform in the course of the evening. If you prefer to come along and just listen, or join in with the choruses, that’s fine too. Solo performers and small ensembles are both welcome, but acoustic instruments only, please, and no backing tapes! The first singaround is on Tuesday 7th February, starting at 8pm.

Other highlights at the Club include high-energy international band The Urban Folk Quartet, new young trio Pilgrims’ Way, and BBC Horizon Award-winner Ewan McLennan. The season continues with Chris Sherburn & Denny Bartley, former members of much-loved Last Night’s Fun and known for their deadpan humour. Then follows the Fay Hield Trio, featuring the acclaimed young singer from Yorkshire, and the season concludes with favourite local duo Black Peak.
