The Railway pub is on St Paul’s Hill by Winchester Station and presents top national and international acts including artists from the world of folk music. These are held in either the Barn or the Attic and carry a ticket price as advertised on the Railway website.
Winchester Folk Club holds monthly events as follows:
Club nights are held upstairs in the Attic at the Railway on the first Wednesday of each month, doors open from 8pm. Subject to availability these will take the form of two 30-40 minute sets from a main artist with support slots as appropriate. Where possible floor singers will be accommodated. Admission is only £5 on the door – the best value night in Winchester!
Singarounds are held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Hyde Tavern in Hyde Street, Winchester. These are informal evenings where everyone gets together for a drink, and to play, sing or watch. This can be anything from unaccompanied singing to instrumental tunes, and is open to solo’s, duo’s, or whatever goes! The aim is for people to get together in a friendly, relaxed environment & have the opportunity to air their music without the pressure of a staged performance. There will also be the opportunity for tunes sessions for part of the evening if there is a demand.
If you would like to perform at a Club Night please contact Rick Monaghan by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to play at a Singaround just turn up!
May we respectfully request that on Club Nights arrivals and departures avoid moving around the room during performances.
